Easter M&Ms
Jelly beans
Other spring-colored candy(about 3 pounds of candy total)
Four16-ounceMason jarswith lids and screw-on bands
46 x 6-inch squaresof colorful fabric
24Peeps
Instructions
Wash jars and lids, then dry completely. Wet jars = melted candy.
Fill each jar with a 1- to 2-inch layer of M&Ms, jelly beans, and other candies. Feel free to layer them in to create layers of color, similar to layers of sand in sand jars.
Insert six Peeps into each jar, making sure to situation them so that they're pushed up against the side of the jars, facing out.
Fill the rest of the jar with candy, packing well so that the layers and Peeps are held in place. The goal here is to pack the jars so that the candy stays in place - at least until little fingers remove the lid. :)
For each jar, set the flat lid on top of the jar. Place a square of fabric over the lid, and then screw on the threaded band over the fabric. You may need to poke and prod the fabric to keep it from bunching up while you screw on the band; bunched fabric will get caught in the threads and keep it from sealing.
